What do I do about flying fingers?
“Flying fingers” plague every beginning bass student.
But they’re one of those things that you shouldn’t try to perfect from the start, because you’ll get perfection paralysis and hamper your progress.
Because of this, we don’t focus on it a ton in the Beginner to Badass course – it’s a more intermediate issue to perfect later.
The fact that you’re noticing flying fingers is a great start. Once you have that awareness, you just have to make little micro improvements each time you practice, and eventually your technique gets better over time. It’s not something you can tackle in a single practice session.
As long as you’re able to play along with me, don’t worry if your hand doesn’t look the same as mine – my hands have had a lot more practice!
